 Considerado
o Oscar das HQs norte-americanas, o Prêmio
Eisner é entregue anualmente durante a convenção de San Diego.
Este ano quem lidera as indicações, com sete, é o artista independente
Chris Ware, responsável pela Acme Novelty Library.
Além dele são destaques: Warren Ellis (Ocean, Desolation
Jones), com seis; e Brian K Vaughn (Ex Machina) e o desenhista
J. H. Williams III, com cinco indicações.
As editoras mais lembradas foram a DC,
com 28 indicações ao prêmio, e a Image com 10.
Foi introduzida uma nova categoria, a de Melhor Trabalho baseado na
Realidade, e Melhor Coleção/Projeto de Arquivo foi dividida
em duas: uma para revistas em quadrinhos, e outra para tiras. Publicação
de Humor foi eliminada por conflitar com outra categoria da mesma
área.
Os juízes desta edição são: o crítico Christopher Allen (da Comic
Book Galaxy), o artista e editor John Gallangher (de Buzzboy),
o editor Nisha Gopalan (da Entertainment Weekly), o gerente de
produto Robert Randle (da Diamond Comic Distributors) e o lojista
Robert Scott (Comikaze, de San Diego).
