Na sua 16ª edição, o Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, o mais importante prêmio do mercado americano de quadrinhos, definirá os melhores trabalhos de 2003, em 26 categorias. O prêmio é organizado pela Comic-Con International, convenção anual de quadrinhos realizada em San Diego, Califórnia. O resultado sairá no dia 23 de julho.

Este ano, os campeões de indicações foram Eric Powell's The Goon (da Dark Horse), que concorrerá em três categorias, além do autor, para mais uma; It Was a Dark and Stormy Night (terceira antologia de Little Lit, pela HarperCollins), com quatro indicações; e Sandman: Noites sem Fim (da DC/Vertigo), indicado cinco vezes.

Outros projetos também se saíram bem na lista, como Global Frequency (quatro indicações), Queen and Country (três), Sleeper (quatro) e 100 Balas (cinco).

Os criadores com maior presença são Brian Michael Bendis e Greg Rucka. Cada um deles aparece cinco vezes entre os indicados deste ano.

Já no caso das editoras, mais uma vez a DC Comics domina a lista. Foram nada mais nada menos que 40 indicações, mais que o dobro do segundo colocado, a Dark Horse, com 16. Logo atrás estão a Marvel (11), Fantagraphics (8) e Drawn & Quartely (6).

Marcam presença ainda Pantheon, HarperCollins, Top Shelf e Image Comics, com quatro cada uma.
